More Blogger Friends

I did a post fairly recently (see it here) highlighting the bloggers who pop over here on a regular basis and leave me lovely comments.  It's always so nice to read them.  It makes you feel loved.  Or at least like you're getting a big squashy cyber hug!  Anyway there are a few more that visit me regularly who I'm always so grateful to see...kind of like a mate that pops over for a quick cup of tea, so I thought I'd share them with you so you can head on over and check out their beautiful blogs.

So to get stuck into it...

Ok you just have to go over and visit Stephanie's blog.  Trust  me, you'll be so glad you did.  She is absolutely hysterical (in a good way!) and is a really good writer.  She is a nail and  makeup artist, so you will find lots of great posts on makeup and beauty products, but you will also see a bit of food, shopping hauls and what is generally going on in her life.  She is very driven and lately has been aiming to stick to her healthy eating goals, which fortunately (or unfortunately for me) she has been achieving very well.  I actually was a little disappointed that she did achieve her goals because she did promise that if she didn't she was going to do a vlog of herself doing a workout to a Richard Simmons tape....which I was dying to see because I knew I'd be in stitches ....(is this selfish of me?!?)  She also does the odd vlog and these are highly entertaining...that great sense of humour again.  Anyway, I always am left with a smile after reading her blog, and even have a good laugh at the witty comments she leaves on mine.  She's good value.  Do go on over and say hello!

Helen is from Scotland and she has her own fashion and style blog which has got quite a following.  She puts together some fantastic outfits and pulls off some really unique looks.  She's also studying a masters course, as well as blogging, which I have no idea how she manages both!  Hats off to her!  I really love the outfits she comes up with because they are so 'wearable'...and by this I mean that they are not a combination of things that you would never wear (ie things that you would wear only if you were strutting your stuff on the catwalk and have legs up to your armpits).  She puts together lovely outfits that are within your comfort zone but are still very unique.  She will also do the odd different post too, sharing a week in photos or reviewing other items, such as jewellery, and lately she's done a couple of great posts on some monthly food boxes she's been receiving in the mail.  Nom nom nom!!

I really like Emma's blog because it is one of those really honest and open blogs that shares a life with you.  A lifestyle blog Emma will also write a little about beauty, makeup and fashion.  She also shares what she gets up to with her little girl who looks absolutely adorable.  Emma has also been open about how she suffers from social anxiety, which I think is very brave of her to admit.  It has been great to read a post here and there where she takes steps to tackle it, which I greatly admire.  Suffering from panic attacks myself I know how difficult these sorts of issues can be.  This blog is one those that is a little like a diary at times, which makes you feel quite privileged to be allowed to share in her life.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these blogs and go over and have a look.  Please let me know of any great ones that you read that are worth a look, it's always great to find a new blog!

Blogger Friends

Blogging is this brilliant thing that opens so many doors.  Everybody who does it says this, I know, but don't you agree?!  For me it helps me practice my photography, keep up the writing on a regular basis, gives me something other than just being a 'stay-at-home-mum' and gives me a real sense of purpose.  It also has given me you.  Yes, you!  You who is reading this and for this I am eternally grateful.

To all those who read my blog I thank you.  I send you a big squishy cyber hug and I really wish I could round you all up and meet you in person.  What a party that would be!

Anyway, the point of this post today is to introduce you to a few of those 'blogger friends' of mine that I 'see' on a regular basis.  And by this I mean these are the women who read and comment regularly.  These are the women who, to me, kind of feel like 'friends'.  It's sort of an odd thing to say because we have never met but because they leave such lovely comments on a regular basis, when I see I have a new comment from them it is kind of like they have sent me a text or called up to say hi.  It's lovely.

Now I'm sure there are others of you that do read regularly but maybe don't always comment, so for those of you I haven't mentioned here I am sorry, I do adore you too!  Anyway, as some of my American 'friends' are celebrating Thanksgiving (a tradition we don't have here in Australia), I thought I would show a little thanks by sharing with you these fabulous blogs and the bloggers who create them.

I have this weird feeling that Bianca over at Ditsy Sprinkles is the English equivalent of me, (only about 15 years younger!)  We both live in country towns, we are both short and a size 12.  Initially she did a very unexpected and sweet thing by creating a 'share' button for me on her blog and since then we have been in touch ever since.  She requested a copy of the magazine I work for, which I sent over, and it was so lovely to share this with her.  Her blog is a lovely mix of beauty, lifestyle, fashion and she shares lots of lovely information.  I particularly enjoyed her post entitled '6 Husbands'.  Read it.  It has a photo of a shirtless Ryan Gosling.  Much appreciated!

Laura Mitbrodt is a fashion and lifestyle blogger from Victoria, Canada and does beautiful fashion posts with great photos in beautiful locations with gorgeous outfits.  Her blog came about as a place to share her creativity and appreciation for fashion and photography, and she really does know her stuff as she has a degree in Fine Arts and Diplomas in Fashion.  It was her that really inspired me to do outfit posts.

Wendy is a college student with the most mature head on her shoulders.  She began her blog earlier this year and loves cooking and everything self help, which is evident in the purpose of her blog...to help students and young adults on their way into adulthood.  She does some awesome recipe posts, which are great for students on a budget, but really they are fantastic for everyone.  I've tried some out myself because they are quick, cheap and perfect for a big and busy family like mine.  You will also see a bit of beauty and décor tips too which are great.

Kiki writes a blog about motherhood, food and fashion and has been blogging for just over a year.  Hers is a blog I've only found fairly recently and enjoy reading on a regular basis.  She has a gorgeous little girl, who looks about the same age as mine, and she loves fashion and thrift shopping.

Borka is a fashion merchandising student and stylist and she has certainly got style.  Incredibly glamorous, with such gorgeous outfits, I feel a little overwhelmed that she stops by my little blog!  She is definitely a blogger to watch.

Lux has a mix of beauty, fashion, crafts, lifestyle and food, and honestly...I can't believe she's only 16!  Luxveritatis means 'the light of the truth' which I love, and the little glimpses you get of her in her photos you can see that she is a stunning red head with the most beautiful porcelain skin.  She is apparently very good at art and maths!  Love the combination.  From memory I don't think anyone in her family or her friends knows she blogs, but they definitely should, it's an awesome blog.

So...these are some of my favourites and my regular visitors who I like to imagine are 'friends'!  I hope one day we can all find one another in the same place!  (perhaps I should just issue the invite...come over to my place for a barbeque!)

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

For a bit of fun, and to share the blogging love, I have been nominated for this award by the lovely Bianca over at Ditsy Sprinkles.  Please pop on over and say hello!

So the Rules are:

1.  Thank and link back to the person who nominated you.
2.   Put the award logo on our blog if you wish
3.  Answer their 10 questions
4.  Make up 10 new questions for your nominees
5.  Nominate 10 bloggers

Questions for me...

1.  How did you come up with your name?

This blog used to have a different name which was 'Amber Rhodes Copywriting', which was a little boring, but it was mainly to just showcase my writing work and use it for advertising.  Gradually it was getting a few more personal type posts on it and I was starting to display my photography work as well.  From here I realised it had become something different altogether so I decided it needed a new name.  Sweet Words Pretty Pictures was just the description of what (I hope!) is on it.

2.  Which TV family most accurately portrays yours?

The one that would slightly, maybe portray my family is one that lived on a farm, which was a show called 'McLeod's Daughter's' here in Australia, which was basically a bunch of women living on a farm together and doing farm work, although this is not really that accurate because there was no constant male figure living in the house (like a husband), and they didn't have a pile of little kids like me.  They did, however have sheep and horses like us.

3.  What's your morning ritual like?

Struggle to wake up, struggle to shift my aching back out of bed, pee (sorry), make a cup of tea, wrangle screaming kids, wish I was still asleep.

4.  Share an embarrassing or bizarre encounter you've had in life.

I sort of embarrass myself all the time so probably I'm bizarre.

5.  If you could invite four famous people to dinner who would you choose and why?

Ryan Gosling (but only to tell him that he is the spitting image of my younger brother), Princess Mary of Denmark (who is originally from Australia and is the spitting image of my older sister), Hugh Jackman (because he is my 'celebrity pass') and Seth McFarlane because he's really funny, especially when he does all his different voices.

6.  List at least one feature you like about yourself.

I have pretty nice eyes, they're green and fairly large.  I also quite like my hair colour, which is auburn, even if my husband calls it 'Spook' hair (feels like the working dog's rough coat....although in all honesty it isn't quite that bad)

7.  If you could be any animal which would you be and why.

That's easy.  A horse because it would be brilliant to be able to run like that and look so gorgeous.

8.  How many pairs of shoes do you currently own?

No idea, will go count........  About 9 pairs, although I only wear my cowboy boots but if my R.M. Williams boots didn't have a hole in them I would wear those too.

9.  Your favourite childhood toy?

I had a teddy called 'Baby'.  I loved him so much I pulled all his fur out so he resembled a scrap of fabric.  I still have him somewhere I think.

10.  If it was impossible for you to ever fail, what one thing would you most like to do.

Start my own magazine.

Questions for my nominees

1.  What is your favourite outfit?
2.  Would you prefer to go out or stay in?
3.  Who is your biggest role model?
4.  If you won a million dollars what would you do first?
5.  What is your favourite thing about blogging?
6.  What is in your fridge right now?
7.  If you could decorate your home any way you liked what style would you choose?
8.  If you could spend the day with a celebrity who would it be and what would you do together?
9.  What is your biggest goal?
10.  If you were a movie character who would you be?

My nominees are...

Susanna from Flower of April
Nilla from Nilla Forever
Victory and Caroline from 31 Shades of Aubergine
Wendy from College Cheese
Evelina from Evelina T

Have fun guys!

Liebster Award

Ok, so I have been nominated to participate in the Liebster Award, which is basically a way to discover new blogs and spread the word about other bloggers out there.

Thank you to the lovely Lux who nominated me.  Lux is a very sweet blogger over at Luxvertitatis and she blogs about a variety of things, including beauty, makeup, recipes and health.  Please pop on over and say hello to her!

Now there are some rules to the Liebster Award, which are as follows:

Rules

1.  Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their blog on your blog.
2.  Write 11 facts about yourself.
3.  Answer 11 questions that have been set for you.
4.  Nominate 5-11 blogs with less than 200 followers.
5.  List these rules in your post.
6.  Inform people that they've been nominated.

Ok...so here we go...

11 Facts About Me

1.  Sometimes I eat terrible things for breakfast.  Like chocolate.  Like this morning.
2.  I have to swim every second day for my ruined back.
3.  I have an older sister and a younger brother.  My sister is a fabulous makeup artist and my brother runs his own forestry company.  Cool hey!
4.  I was classically trained in singing when I was younger.
5.  Despite enjoying my job writing and taking photos for a magazine (and blogging) I'd love to work on a farm again.
6.  I am working towards starting my own magazine for country women who are obsessed with horses, cowboy boots and all things country.
7.  I am quite short (and my husband is quite tall)
8.  I have green eyes and my hair goes very red in the sun.  I also have two fairly red haired children out of my four.
9.  I suffer from panic attacks on the odd occasion.
10.  I have epilepsy, although have been controlled with medication for many years.
11.  I am looking forward to my kids being out of car seats so I can get back to owning a ute.

Questions to Answer

1.  One fashion item you always go back to?

That would be my boots.  I always wear either my Ariat cowboy boots or my R.M. Williams boots.  Always.

2.  Favourite song?

Actually I don't really have one.  I listen to country music if that helps!

3.  Your dream goal?

There are a couple of parts to my dream goal.  The first bit is to own our own farm and have lots more sheep and cattle.  The second is to start my own magazine.  I even have a name organised for it so it's in the planning stages.

4.  If you only had one wish, what would it be?

To live a long happy healthy life!

5.  One person you would love to meet?

The Queen.

6.  Favourite makeup brand.

Just received some in the mail, 'Dusty Girls', which is a relatively new Australian brand made by Moo Goo, and also 'Cowgirl Dirt', which has come in from the US.

7.  The reason you started blogging?

Initially it began as a platform to showcase my copywriting and photography but now it is taking on a momentum of it's own.  One day I hope to make a living from blogging!

8.  What's the last movie you saw?

A Million Ways to Die in the West.  Silly, I know, but it was a bit of fun.

9.  Are you in love?

Yes!  With my husband (and my kids!.....and my horse)

10.  Is succeeding in life more important for you than love?

Love is one of my successes so far.  I don't think I'd feel as complete if I didn't have my husband.

11.  Would you like to live in another century?  If so, why?

Being an early settler and a farmer in Australia during the 1800's would be an adventure, but more if you were a bloke I think.  As a woman it might be a bit restrictive.

Questions for my Nominees to Answer

1.  If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
2.  What do you do first thing in the morning?
3.  What would your last meal be if you had to choose?
4.  What would you take with you to a deserted island?
5.  Who is the most important person in your life and why?
6.  Where do you see yourself in five years?
7.  What is your favourite thing about blogging?
8.  What is your favourite television program?
9.  If you could choose any career at all what would it be?
10.  If you could do anything differently in your life what would you do?
