Giveaway!

So I have decided to have a little giveaway!  I've been working pretty hard on this blog lately so I thought it was time for a little treat...for you guys! 

 

Firstly a sincere thank you to those who follow along with me either through Google, Bloglovin, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram...(or a combination of some of these!)  I really appreciate it.  As a writer it is lovely to know that somebody reads what you write!

 

Moo Goo is one of my favourite brands...and it's all Australian!  I have a 'Skim Milk Udder Cream' to give away (don't be fooled by the name...it's not for your cow!...although I'm sure she'd appreciate it), which is a great moisturiser that you can use anywhere, and also a 'Lip Balm'. 

 

I'm going to be running this little giveaway for a week, so next Wednesday I have will my 11 year old draw a name out of a hat (literally) and come up with a winner.  This giveaway is available worldwide so please share!

Saturday Finds



It's not very often that I feel like a little retail therapy.  In fact hardly at all because I find shops slightly overwhelming with all their activity and 'buzziness' (if I can make up a word), and it's a nightmare taking kids shopping.  It always ends up being a few hours of 'grrrrr' and afterwards I remember why I do a lot of shopping online.

Still...it was good to get out for a change!  Hubby had a couple of shearing jobs so off we went.

An hours drive later and we arrived.

As you can see I went to The Body Shop.  Hadn't been there for ages but it was my main motivation in going.  I needed makeup remover and I desperately wanted a moisturising treatment for my hair, since I go swimming every second day, and I have what my husband calls 'Spook' hair.

This is Spook.

Yes, he's a kelpie.  He belongs to my in-laws and he is old and beautiful and looks like a grizzly bear...and he has really course thick fur.  No...my hair isn't quite as scruffy as his, but my husband seems to think so.  Hence the nick name 'Spook hair'. 

 

So I bought these...

Very much looking forward to whacking the rainforest on my head and sitting and letting it work it's magic!

 

From the photo above you can also see that I just had to get some Coconut and Brazil Nut Shower Cream, as I haven't had this for years, literally, and they had this mini Body Butter...which I picked up the wrong one and got this Shea one, when I actually wanted the Brazil Nut.  I'm not a fan of Shea, but my Mum likes it so I will give this to her to use!  Happy Belated Birthday Extra Gifty Mum!

 

I also found this really cute pencil holder that I couldn't resist, and it was only $10.  Since I was sprucing up my desk space here I have been giving it a bit more thought and decided it needed a place to keep my pens.

And then pens pop out of his bottom.  See...

I found him in a shop called Typo.  It was also a necessity to buy yet more stationery because I go through it like a mad woman.  There is now a Kikki.k shop in Fountain Gate.  Whoops!

Kikki.k has the most gorgeous stationery.  It's hard not to find yourself spending a pile of cash in here.  This notebook has different designs on different pages, which makes it fun.

And more foxes.  I'm not sure what the current fox fixation is all about, I mean my husband is currently out in the paddocks at night protecting our newborn lambs from these sneaky buggers...but they are cute when it comes to stationery.  The pen is new too.

 

So I have now changed my office space.  Pulled out the old pin board, because it coordinated better, and gave my daughter back her pink and green elephant one.

I like the new black and white look.  Don't you?

Blogging Home Office

One thing I have learnt about blogging is that you really need your own space.  To be more organised, to get into a routine and, more importantly, to approach it in a professional manner, you really need to set aside an area that is just for you.

 

I used to have a spare room that was my office.  A whole room!  But now it's taken up by my 13 month old daughter (which is actually better), so now I have a little corner of the lounge room that I call my own.



 

It still works.  Having ditched the desktop computer a few years ago, (it certainly would not have fit on THIS desk!), I can now plonk myself anywhere.  Sometimes I do take the computer down to my bedroom and work from the cosiness of my bed in front of the television in the evenings...which is usually when my husbands is either a) away shearing or b) out hunting foxes.    But most of the time I sit here.

Yes...literally right here.  I'm short, so I need the pillow for height issues not just for decorative purposes.

I also can not write without a cup of tea beside me.  I don't drink coffee at all but drink copious amounts of tea...which is probably just as bad. 

 

I also use my procrastinating time to put on handcream...my new favourite Lanolips Intense Hand Balm...which I blogged about here, and then I get stuck into the lip balm...flavour varies depending on my mood.  Often it's my French Vanilla Mor Lip Macaron (love this) or the Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid.  Delicious. 

 

I've gotten side tracked.

 

Having a tidy desk helps, which is partly why I have such a small desk...so it won't get messy in the first place.  Importantly, having a space where I can put my things and my children know that they will get on my grumpy side if they touch anything that resides here.  Probably the single most vital part of having my own desk!

 

The drawers are stuffed full of random 'things', mostly bits and bobs I use when I go out and do interviews for my magazine job, and also a whole lot of receipts for things that I hope to claim when I do my tax.  There is also the odd bit of makeup or other beauty products that I am about to blog about and there are about ten different notebooks, some used some not.  Mostly not.  I have a thing for stationery.
