My Weekly Favourites

I started this week surrounded by beautiful things. 

I had to take photos for an advertisement for the magazine at a gift store and café called 'Impodimo'.  They had WAY too many nice things.  Unfortunately I spent almost all I would have made doing the actual shoot.  Whoops!  This was one such whoopsy daisy.

These four bracelets are all attached by a silver chain with a little heart locket on it.  I really like the silver leaf.  It's so fine.  Love love love!

I look like a doofus here, but I really like my new haircut.  It actually doesn't look spectacular here, it looked way better today after I'd doused it with water and let it dry naturally.  I had it cut on Tuesday, the first time in 11 months....and she cut it to suit the curl.  I never wear  my hair down because there is so much of it and it is really thick...but the hairdresser cut into it to take out some of the bulk, and even though she took an inch off the bottom it looks LONGER now.  Odd.  This curly hair thing is only a recent phenomenon for me...each time I've had a baby it's got progressively curlier and curlier.  What the?  Hormones are so weird.  Anyway, I like my new hair.  Particularly since it doesn't look like a gigantic boofy triangle any more.

I made up these brochures and had them printed through Vistaprint.  I swear, this company is insane!  (in a good way).  I did these on their website and ordered them last weekend and they arrived only DAYS later.  Wow!  These are brochures advertising my blog, but are more for advertising my copywriting and commercial photography services.  I thought (not that I'm not busy enough...like REALLY busy), that I'd try and get a bit of freelance work.  I like how they turned out.

I was really pleased with how they turned out.  Hopefully I remember to HAND them out.

I kind of had a bit of a shopping spree at a children's store called Pumpkin Patch where I bought quite a few pieces for my daughter's winter wardrobe.  My husband is busier with his shearing during the spring/summer months so now is the time to buy while there's a little spare cash.  I go through all these pieces for you on my Vlog from this week which will appear Wednesday of this coming week.  (spoiler....I will also do a silly fashion parade for you too.....)

An odd Weekly Favourite, but this is Pip, my husband's kelpie, which is a working dog.  She normally resides at the farm, although for the last couple of years she has actually been living up north with my brother in-law.  She is the most beautiful dog.  I love dogs and I used to have a kelpie called 'Skeeto' who was the same colours, and who I sold for $2000.  I sort of had to get rid of him because he bit one of my boys.  He wasn't aggressive, he was just possessive of me.  Anyway, I then had a black and tan kelpie named Kate but she ran away at the start of last year......so since then I haven't had a dog living with me and I really miss it.  Anyway, my husband brought Pip home the other day because he wanted to take her to work at the shearing sheds, and she stayed a couple of nights.  I was so happy!

My Weekly Favourites

Happy Valentine's Day for yesterday!  I missed the last couple of days of posting, but my excuse is I've had a cold...and really I've been flat out getting articles and photos in for the magazine I work for as the deadline for the Autumn edition was this Tuesday and I've been under the pump for probably the last 6 weeks.  Thankfully now I will get a few weeks of a slower pace before I have to start going out and doing more stories for the Winter edition. 

Anyway, here are my weekly favourites from the week that was....

This incredibly cute lunch box that I got for my daughter which I ordered online from my favourite stationery store, Kikki K.

Also from Kikki K this very pretty 'Reflection Journal' to fill with all my daily....well...reflections.

Keeping up the 'cuteness' theme, I found this little tin while buying a present for a newborn this week and just had to have it.  It's sitting on my desk at the moment but will probably end up in my daughter's room.

A couple of books I got.  'Social Photography - Make all your smartphone photos one in a billion' by Daniela Bowker, and 'Love Tanya' by Tanya Burr...which I got just out of curiosity, just to see what other bloggers are doing when it comes to publishing (a dream of mine is to publish my own book....)

I ordered tickets last week, which arrived in the mail the other day, to see The Australian Ballet's performance of 'Cinderella' in June.  I'm taking my 11 year old son who has now done his second classical ballet class and is showing so much potential already.  His teacher is super impressed, and after his class the other day said that she normally doesn't start teaching a student leaps by only their second class....but apparently he's 'like a sponge' and is doing really well.  Why am I turning into such a dance Mum??  I also enrolled him in a special Boy's Class being run by the Australian Ballet, which is one Saturday in June, where he will have a 2 and a half hour class with other boys aged 9 to 14, and he will get taught by a male dancer FROM the Australian Ballet.  What an experience!  I guess I'm also trying to be really encouraging because it is going to be one of those things where he is likely to cop a lot of flack from mates....so I'm trying to get him to see how brilliant it could be.

Yes, my daughter is one of my favourites, but how cute are these little sunglasses I bought her from Pumpkin Patch!  She thinks she looks pretty good in them.

I braved Ikea yesterday.  All I can say is 'never again.'  Or maybe 'not for a long, long time.'  I bought this chair so I could put it in front of my little desk (I don't have the luxury of an office, so I have a 'little corner').  As well as this pretty chair I got this lovely cushion!



 

I had to go back to the Wild Dog Winery to take foot shots for an advertisement for the magazine.  They made this Barramundi for me to take photos of.  Then I got to eat it!!

They also made this 'Chocolate Eggshell' dessert, which I didn't get to eat, but my husband and I went there last night for dinner for Valentine's Day and he ordered this for his dessert.  Apparently it was delicious!

My Weekly Favourites

Another busy week with lots of lovely favourite things!

Attending a blogger event through Nuffnang to hear about the travels and adventures of a group of bloggers who got to experience a fabulous trip to Dubai.  It was at the Doc Martin's bar in Collins Quarter in the 'Paris' end of Collins Street in the city of Melbourne.

Mmmmmmmm!!  And then there was the specially created cocktail with a Dubai inspired flavour!

It was called 'The Burj' and it was a mix of Vermouth, Chamomile, Orange Blossom and Apricot liqueur, especially created by Doc Martin's head bartender, Zeb.  It was an experience!  The first sip highlighted one flavour, which was then followed by a burst of orange blossom and chamomile, followed by something else.  It was quite unusual but definitely delicious!

On a completely unrelated note...I finally got the fenders back for my saddle.  They had to be considerably shortened because I am so vertically challenged.  Anyway now I can AT LAST use my new saddle that I got for Christmas.  It's from Toowoomba Saddlery. 

I got this Neck and Decolletage Cream by Natio, which is an Australian brand that I really like, and is available from my local chemist.  It's reasonably priced and uses lots of natural ingredients.  This cream has Plant Peptides, Argan, Moringa Butter, Fennel, Frankincense and Myrrh...and as well as feeling a bit like one of The Three Wise Men with the whole Frankincense thing, it smells gorgeous.  I decided to invest in this cream because the old décolletage gets a bit neglected and it is one of the first places that you can start to show your age.  That and the back of your hands (which in my case seems to be happening...probably all that time working on farms.)  Natio, I discovered recently, is also pronounced 'Nay-T-O'.  I don't know what I was saying before but it was definitely wrong.

 

This other item, which everyone would no doubt recognise, is my all time favourite Brazil Nut Body Butter from The Body Shop.  I actually used to sell The Body Shop products through The Body Shop at Home party plan and I learnt some really weird facts.  Probably the weirdest was that the original store was actually located right next door to a funeral parlour.  A funeral parlour next to 'The Body Shop'.  How confusing.

This favourite is a representation of my 11 year old son's first classical ballet class which he had this week....and did very well at I might add.  This is my daughter waiting outside during the class...something I am going to have to get used to with my 2 other small children.  Next time I will take more toys to occupy them.  I will also get some photos of my son... but for the moment here is a little video.

My Weekly Favourites

I am attempting to get myself into some sort of blogging routine this year, with Sunday becoming 'My Weekly Favourites' day.  This could be anything from favourite things, favourite blogs, favourite posts or new finds.  The rest of the week will hopefully pan out with some sort of order going on, with Monday, Thursday and Saturday being dedicated to fashion posts, Tuesday becoming 'Tips Tuesday', Wednesday will have my 'Weekly Vlog' from the previous week and Friday will be a round up of 'A Week of Sweet Words Pretty Pictures', meaning that there will be lots of pretty pictures from my week with minimal words...because hey, by the end of the week I'll be exhausted!

 

Of course I can't guarantee that I will be able to stick to this cracking pace but I will give it a red hot go!

 

So without further ado here are my favourites for this week....

Ok, so these little beauties really don't need much of an introduction.....

.....oh alright...you've twisted my arm.

These are boots I picked up on Friday after finding out that my favourite Western apparel store is closing down in a week.  I had eyed these off previously but wasn't sure about the whole 'turned down' look.  But apparently they are all the rage in America, and my suspicions have only been confirmed by watching my newsfeed on Facebook where 'Cowgirl Magazine' keeps popping up photos of these types of boots.  They are so comfortable, plus they are going to be great in summer, and having tried them on with shorts I discovered they look pretty good with bare legs.  So...hello boots and skirts or shorts!  As an added bonus they were also 30% off!  They are by a brand called Twisted Boots.

This bag was also on sale.  Whoops!  Something else I also had my eye on.  It's by Thomas Cook.  Drool.

This is a photo of my computer screen but it is also a photo of Stephanie Eva's blog, which I highly enjoy.  This week Stephanie had a special beauty week going where each day she covered different aspects of her makeup collection.  You could participate in her week by posting photos each day on Instagram of your own collections that corresponded with her days collection, for example, Monday was all about eyes so you put up a photo of your favourite eye makeup. (#stephanieblogsbeautyweek)  My favourite vlog that she posted was the one showcasing her Everyday Makeup Routine.  As well as being informative it was also incredibly funny and highly enjoyable.  Go and check it out!

Why are you seeing a photo of an email on my iPad you might ask?  Last week I got an invitation to attend the media call of Strictly Ballroom The Musical, (you can see my post about it here) and on Friday I received this email to tell me that I have won two tickets to see the ACTUAL SHOW!!!  I don't have to wait long either as I will be going on Tuesday next week....which is in like two days!!!  I'm a little bit excited.  As you can probably tell.

For my final favourite.....  This is a photo of my 18 month old daughter, and although she is one of my favourites, this is not what my favourite of the week is about.  Nor is it the fact that I have to clean chocolate cake off her face, her hands, the floor, the table and out of her hair....no...it's the fact that she is now out of her high chair!!!  This is big.  Really big.  Doesn't sound exciting but high chairs are horrible to clean and it's just one extra thing to stub my toes on while I'm rushing around the kitchen.  This could almost be up there with my most favourite favourite thing of the week! (ok maybe not...I think it just might be the tickets...although the boots are up there...and that bag.....)
